Originally from Long Island, New York, Mike played for Arizona State University from 2005 – 2009. During his hockey career at ASU he led all defenseman in points each season totaling just over 150 total points throughout 4 seasons. As a defenseman he helped the Sun Devils reach the National tournament his freshman year. He was also chosen to tryout for the World University Games of 2005 – 06. In his final two years at ASU he served as team Captain. Both years he was awarded 1st team all PAC – 12 and 2nd team All – West Region. As well as a two time ACHA All American. Upon leaving Arizona State. Mike was recruited to play in the Federal Hockey League for the New York Aviators where they won the league title during the 2010 season. He continued his career in the Australian Professional Ice Hockey League playing for the Gold Coast Blue Tongues. Upon returning to the US he was given the opportunity to attend camp with the Bridgeport Soundtigers (AHL), the Stockton Thunder (ECHL) and eventually settling with the Arizona Sundogs (CHL). to coach under current NCAA D1 Coach Greg Powers.
The following 2012 -2013 season Mike turned in his Stick for a Whistle signing on to Coach at Arizona State University under current NCAA D1 Head Coach Greg Powers. In only his second season as Coach, he led the ASU Division 2 team to its first ever PAC 12 Championship (2013 – 14’). As a certified strength and conditioning specialist Mike also helped train the ASU Division 1 team that went on to become ACHA 2014 D1 National Champions. As Arizona State begin to transition into a NCAA D1 program, Mike was recruited to coach at the Junior Level. During the 2015 season he served as Assistant Coach and Strength Coach to the Junior A Program, New York Applecore (EHL). During this season Mike also served as the Youth Organization’s strength & conditioning coach and Head of Player Development. Mike now lives in Aspen, CO, working with the Aspen Youth Program serving as the Player Development Coach and Assistant to the Director.
Mike was brought into the Pro Ambitions Family the summer of 2012 as a Head Coach. For the past six summers Mike has committed to training, improving, and growing youth hockey with Pro Ambitions. He has helped run camps not only in a state or region but across the US. He has had much success with helping kids of all ages take their game to the next level. He is a student and teacher of the game, with a passion and love for the sport of hockey. Mike has a great attitude and work ethic that he puts into every camp or team on and off the ice. We look forward to having Coach Mike join us this summer in Europe.
